Which Bible is for me?
The question comes up all the time: Which translation of the Bible is the right one? I would like to hear from you about which translation you use. King James, Holman Christian, NIV, NKJV, Living, RSV, others? Let me know, I will tell you that I use more than one translation. I preach from the New King James and do my daily quiet time from the Holman.

The NIV has been my primary study tool for as long as I've been a believer (1993). However, recently, I've developed a fondness to the ESV. Haven't purchased a copy yet, though.
Have read great comments on the ESV. Folks like James Dobson were a part of its development. Wayne Grudem (wrote my Systematic Theology textbook) showed preference for the handling of gender in it. Looks to be a good translation. Beware though that there are two versions and both carry the ESV title, but you would want the updated one.
